No matter how well the music is recorded in the recording studio, it has little significance as long as we do not have something to listen to it well on. Regardless of the amount of work, finances, and effort of the artists, music only has a chance to be fully appreciated when we listen to it on a high-class listening set that can reproduce all the nuances of sound. Home Hi-Fi listening is precisely for having many years of continuous satisfaction from listening to our favorite music, and the ability to enjoy all the nuances of sound contained in it.

Unfortunately, too many factory sets are not up to the task, even if they belong to the so-called "mid-range" or "higher" price range. They often have basic errors in the design of the enclosures, the tuning of the crossovers, the location of the bass holes, the wiring, the way the speakers are mounted, the presence of elements that spoil the sound, improper interior damping and others. This results in an unconvincing sound, in which something is constantly missing, there is always too little or too much of something. After removing all these errors and tuning the speakers and taking care of the proper wiring and connections, usually bypassing all the printed elements used as crossover boards, we will get a top-class set of speakers for listening. The difference is really striking and worth the effort!

The most critical and influencing element of our listening are the speakers. We all know perfectly well how average speakers sound. They play somehow, but it is far from ideal, the sound is very punctual, sometimes loud and often dull, with indistinct bass and withdrawn midrange, without details or precision, dirty, with ugly or absent top. Appropriate tuning of the speakers causes their sound to become several classes better and much closer to what we would really like to hear.

Tuning speakers is simply removing all the defects from a speaker set. These defects most often result from savings in the mass production process, unification, miniaturization of elements and the lack of proper tuning of what is "on paper", i.e. the theoretical model of the crossover-transducers-casing system with real listening in the real world!

Often, manufacturers also prioritize appearance over acoustic properties. Since the 1980s, HI FI no longer means what it should.  

Because we have many years of solid experience in mixing and mastering music, as well as excellent equipment and listening conditions, no one knows better than us how a good speaker set should sound and how it should behave when playing different instruments or different types of music. We pour our musical experience into improving speaker columns, giving their owners many years of satisfaction and listening pleasure. We do it with passion, commitment, slowly and precisely, so it never has the character of serial or assembly production. We do not save on any elements that affect the sound. We ALWAYS follow the principle that tuning must be done in such a way that it simply cannot be better.

How do speakers sound after professional tuning performed by us?

It can be said that they gain enormous potential to reproduce what the music contains at the moment! If necessary, they can hit with a powerful, clean and precise bass, accurately and in detail reproduce subtle room reverberations in more acoustic recordings, convey the color and variety of instruments in a symphony orchestra, reproduce the power and expression of guitars in heavy metal, the fleeting mood of the moment in chamber music, the subtlety of voices in a choir, the sharpness and piercing eloquence of wind instruments such as the trumpet or saxophone. The stage, naturalness and dynamics of the sound improve greatly. After tuning, the speakers can play music in any style with extremely convincing fidelity and expression.

In a word, well-tuned speakers can do everything, they are suitable for any style of music, from acoustic trios to techno and speed metal. Speaker tuning causes the plastic, dull or flat sound to turn into a wonderful, three-dimensional musical image, in which we can distinguish not only a perfectly outlined stereo scene, but also the depth of sound in the sense of the distance of the instruments from the microphone at the moment of recording, and even their positioning in the vertical plane! Tuning of loudspeakers, i.e. everything that is related to improving their sound and fully conveying the nuances of recordings, is an indispensable procedure, bringing us closer to a truly high-class listening experience. A lot depends on tuning, because well-tuned loudspeakers can take us to a world of unforgettable sound experiences while listening to your favorite music, and even relatively expensive factory loudspeakers always have hidden shortcomings and design errors that discourage you from listening to Music.

It often happens that we listen to our favorite music for many years on badly sounding speakers only to find out after many years that it was worth tuning the speakers! - what we get after tuning is worth any price, and it doesn't cost that much at all! Just think how many hours, days, weeks and years we waste listening to music on poorly tuned speakers, losing a lot of what we could hear, while our speakers almost certainly have great tuning potential, which turns them into equipment that gives wonderful, deeply relaxing and satisfying experiences and allows you to melt into the world of real HI-FI!

Many users of loudspeakers from well-known manufacturers, such as KEF, Focal, Paradigm, B&W or Tannoy may ask themselves why they need to tune or improve anything in already well-playing, and above all "company" loudspeakers, which are appropriately designed and manufactured by often very renowned manufacturers. It can be said that it is like with cars - a company producing even an expensive car can do it very well, but there is always the possibility of modifying what is factory-made to make it much better! Factory products have the characteristic of being mass-produced, with particular attention paid to manufacturing costs, while saving time and ease of assembly plays a huge role for every company, as it significantly cuts costs. Long-term assembly, tuning, testing, and improvements would cost too much and such speaker sets would not find buyers in the competitive world of price wars. Hence the pursuit of maximum unification of elements, assembly of crossovers on printed circuits often on a very small surface, use of cheap components and wiring, use of ordinary lead solder, etc. An uncompromising (price does not matter) approach to the production of loudspeakers is used only in sets that cost at least several dozen thousand zlotys. They are produced in very small series, and such a company earns not on quantity, but on price. However, there is no reason why relatively solidly produced loudspeakers from the lower or medium price range should not, after appropriate tuning, approach the quality of listening, or even equal the most expensive models produced in small series, if during tuning all possible improvements are applied and all activities are performed correctly, in accordance with the best principles of the art of assembly and tuning of loudspeakers.

The most critical point of each speaker is its overall tuning, errors on the crossover board, the way the speakers are mounted, the cabling and the damping. The crossover is of course of great importance here, but not only. What looks nice on paper in terms of parameters and precise calculation of elements does not always have to sound good in practice, or rather, as a rule... it will not sound good! ;-). Theory and practice are simply two different things! Therefore, in professional tuning, each speaker goes through a time-consuming process of thorough listening on reference equipment and correcting the sound in various ways, which only gives optimal listening for each pair. This can take several weeks and after this period and possible introduction of minor corrections, we are fully convinced that the speaker set is ready for long-term listening and guarantees the owner's full satisfaction with listening to any type of music.

OUR BUSINESS PROFILE IN THE FIELD OF SPEAKER SETS

We deal with modifications of factory speaker sets, which significantly improves their sound, and in each case the difference in the positive is very clear and indisputable. It is not that something sounds different, but we cannot say what. Our customers who have their speakers tuned are often simply completely surprised at how much difference can be heard, how much the bass, midrange, or detail and delicacy of the high tones have improved, and all this with perfect tonal alignment. After tuning, the speakers play much cleaner, more natural, stronger, faster, more precise, with a huge improvement in the stereo panorama and 3D scene, and at the same time they do not prefer any band, processing every range from the very bottom to the highest tones in the entire acoustic band. We often interfere in the construction of the speaker itself, because here you can achieve a lot! In the construction of each speaker, regardless of how renowned or expensive the company, you can distinguish at least 8 types or categories of modifications that significantly improve the quality of sound. This does not mean that only bad speakers can be improved! It is simply that what is good can be made even better and almost perfect, and what is not so good can be improved even more drastically, to the point that it does not even resemble the original!

In the process of tuning speakers, we do not neglect anything that may be important for achieving the perfect sound! We perform tuning with a great deal of time, we use the best lead-free solders with the addition of silver, we select crossover elements and wiring very carefully, we skip printed circuits of crossovers, each pair of speakers undergoes a week-long period of tests on various musical styles, during which we eliminate any shortcomings. As a result, customers receive a tested and warmed-up speaker set, which is the same only in name, and in reality is a completely different, much better playing equipment, which belongs to a much higher sound class.

We realize that it is difficult to describe the sound difference after tuning. It is something that simply has to be heard and compared to what was there before, preferably in your own listening room, using well-known or favorite reference recordings.

However, you will only hear the full difference once you receive the speakers back and connect them to your amplifier in your listening room. 

Since there are different sizes of loudspeakers, from small, two-way to large, free-standing, we cannot issue a single price for tuning each type of loudspeaker. Moreover, depending on the individual order, tuning may include replacing the loudspeakers, completely redesigning the crossovers or other, unusual modifications, depending on the individual wishes of the Customer. Therefore, we ask for a detailed description of the equipment you have, along with detailed wishes regarding its sound, how we perceive its flaws, and a description of our listening system, what amplifier we listen to, what cabling we use and what kind of listening room we have. Each order must be discussed and priced individually

We would like to emphasize that tuning speakers is a time-consuming process. It cannot be done in 2 days. It is a somewhat artistic process, requiring extended periods of listening at different times of the day, over a period of at least a week. The speakers must be disassembled, their weak points found, everything that negatively affects the sound redesigned, then slowly reassembled, while performing numerous listening tests and correcting the sound on an ongoing basis. Sometimes you also have to wait quite a long time for unusual elements. At the very end of this process, the speakers also require a longer period of running-in, listening and possibly further correction of the sound, e.g. by tuning the crossovers, selecting the right number of turns in the coils, changing the type and amount of damping, the surface of the bass reflex port and other procedures. Therefore, the entire reworking process can take from 2 to 4 weeks.

In consultation with our Clients, we take into account their special wishes and preferences (e.g. improving bass, extending or weakening the midrange, better processing of high tones, naturalness, clarity and speed of sound, etc.). This allows for individual adjustment of the speaker set to the Client's amplifier, cabling and listening room.

Here's what's included in speaker tuning:

A: ENCLOSURE TUNING
- Redesign of the enclosures with a much better solution for the bass reflex system
- Strengthening the front panel and eliminating its resonances
- Damping of standing waves inside the enclosure
- Significant improvement in the speaker mounting with isolation of their baskets from the impact of harmful enclosure vibrations
- Sealing of the enclosures with improved mounting of the speaker cable terminals

B: ELECTRONIC TUNING
- Replacement of wiring with high-quality cables with large-section cores made of special purified oxygen-free copper and silver
- Replacement of speaker crossovers with the highest quality hand-tuned crossovers made of individually selected elements
(capacitors and resistors are manually measured with strict tolerance)
- Application of solders with a special silver admixture, which results in significantly better reproduction of the band by the speaker's electrical system.
- Installation of the entire electrical system, bypassing printed circuit boards, which definitely reduce the sound quality

C: SPEAKER TUNING
- Speakers are selected in pairs and additionally individually tuned to a specific type of housing. This involves appropriate softening or hardening of the main speaker spring (internal suspension) and tuning procedures on the membrane, including matching its stiffness to the type of speaker.

D: FINAL PROCEDURES
After the structural tuning of the speakers, the final phase of their warm-up and final determination of the sound is required. For this purpose, we conduct listening on a variety of musical material for several dozen hours. This causes better "breaking in" of the new elements of the speaker column. After the speakers have "beaten", their sound is finally corrected and, if necessary, the characteristics of the crossover are changed.
